BLUE WINDOW

by Craig Lucas

MY MEMORY. Artistic Director Josie Abady handed me a script and said, "Here's a play I think you'll like." Boy, did I ever! The seven lost and frightened souls of Blue Window totally captivated me, and I couldn't wait to get into rehearsal with them. I was the casting director for the Unicorn company, and I had selected a fine group of young actors to work with. These pictures bring back so many memories. What a special experience it was.

Craig Lucas' Blue Window is an interesting attempt to deal with some familiar themes. The production it is getting at the Berkshire Theatre Festival's Unicorn Stage is absolutely first-rate.

Roger Danforth has directed the play with an acute feel for the play's rhythms and tempos, and he has extracted a set of fine, razor-sharp performances from a very able, young cast that works extremely well together.

Winifred Walsh is particularly affecting in her lengthy monologue near the end of the play, but the lucidity and sensitivity of the performances that surround her are equally impressive. -- The Berkshire Eagle
